Sr. V.P. Operations – Winona

Primary Function:

The Distribution Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Winona Distribution facility including warehousing, distribution, and rework. This position is responsible for setting and delivering strategy to optimize the distribution facility focused on business performance metrics, continuous improvement, team development and training, inventory accuracy and optimization, and an efficient cost structure.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain the strategy of the Winona distribution facility to ensure an efficient and cost-effective function.
  • Coach and develop high-performing teams ensuring compliance with company policies, goals, objectives, and budget.
  • Develop and implement operating metrics to drive efficient business performance.
  • Recommend staffing and capital expenditure needs, as appropriate, to ensure distribution operations meet customer requirements.
  • Manage compliance surrounding distribution facility related to Prop 65, import/export regulations, health and safety standards, and other distribution facing regulations.
  • Manage and optimize inventory control processes to minimize stock discrepancies and maximize inventory accuracy.
  • Be a champion to change with integration of systems, processes, and people to effectively create an environment to continually add value.
  • Cultivate a culture inspired by continuous improvement.
  • Conduct monthly employee meetings, providing business and distribution metric performance updates.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, related field, or equivalent experience is required. A minimum of 15 years of distribution experience is required with at least 10 years in a management capacity.
  • Independent problem-solving skills and ability to work with and maintain confidentiality with sensitive information is required.
  • Ability to work with professionalism and tact is required.
  • Experience creating standard operating procedures and ensuring adoption at all levels, driving productivity and efficiency through operational excellence.
  • Experience of project management and a track record of successful deployment, ideally including implementation of ERP systems, cost leadership and supply chain initiatives.
  • Strong IT systems knowledge and understanding of specialist systems such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), BI Analytics and data management systems. Advanced Excel user.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills with ability to optimize team performance.
  • Exemplary communications skills including preparation and delivery of presentations to all levels of internal and external audiences.
  • Ability to analyze and manipulate technical or complex data and provide meaningful insights.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to handle multiple projects through to completion.

Marginal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Backup to Department personnel.
  • Assist with special projects and/or assignments, as directed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Working Relationships:

  • Work with Sr. VP of Winona Operations to obtain guidance on projects, programs, and priorities.
  • Work with all levels of our company and outside personnel to perform the duties and responsibilities outlined.
  • Works with the Safety Committee to assist on safety related projects/concerns.

  • Office Machines or Equipment: PC, computer, copier, fax machine, laptops, printers and miscellaneous digital print related equipment.
  • Physical Effort: Lift and/or lower items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Hazard Exposure: Working with people and potential for contact with dissatisfied and/or abusive individuals. Infrequent overnight travel may be required, typically to the Milwaukee office and/or off-site training.
  • Travel between plants is required.

Primarily a standard office environment with periods of work in a production environment (when working with the team on the floor).The noise level is usually moderate (from office equipment) in the office area and usually loud while in the production/warehouse area (from machines/equipment).
