Purpose of Job
Accountable for driving volume and profitability by achieving financial and non-financial business results. Responsible to develop and promote the business plan and vision in connection with the divisional and company objectives. Responsible for instilling company values in others through modelling, coaching and providing high quality instruction. Grows the business by fostering a culture of ongoing learning, leveraging and developing talent. Accountable for succession planning and performance management processes in the production centre.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
VOLUME AND PROFIT MANAGEMENT:
- Consistently delivers on established Service Level Agreement (SLA) objectives and foster trust with the network of retail stores.
- Accountable for profit and loss (P&L) performance, including tracking all level expenses and managing spends to budget.
- Sets strategies, volume goals and targets and creates a communication plan to ensure team understands connection between store financial success and bonus programs.
GENERAL MANAGEMENT:
- Models, promotes and holds others accountable for customer service excellence
- Responsible for the direct supervision and development of the management and team
- Formulates and executes an internal associate succession plan to support business growth
- Ensures the hiring and onboarding processes are executed and is involved in interviewing as required
- Ensures a process is established and implemented for ongoing training and coaching
- Ownership of the Performance Development Review (PDR) process including timely delivery, action plans are in place and follows up on development of associates
- Accountable for the performance management of direct and indirect reports including documentation and partners with supervisors towards resolution
- Accountable for scheduling and allocation of hours to leverage productivity
- Partners with supervisors to analyze and control labour and expense costs
- Has a complete understanding of all company policies and procedures related to this position, as outlined in the training checklist
- Accountable to understand and communicate general company policies and provide guidance to staff as needed
- Ensures that all forms of available communication are being used appropriately to relay information and ensure associates understanding (store and department meetings, white boards, bulletin boards, portal, email etc)
- Identifies, communicates suggestions and makes decisions for improvements in all areas of business.
- Delegates responsibilities and holds others accountable to ensure the general cleanliness of workstations, lunchrooms and washrooms according to company standards is maintained
- Promotes and maintains a safe working environment, follows all company protocols for safety and is required to take ownership for rectifying deficiencies
- Manages all privacy processes and ensures full compliance and responds to audit findings
- Proactively models and ensures team's understanding of and adherence to all privacy policies and procedures
- Models and ensures team properly secures company assets and physical inventory and follows all loss prevention and key control procedures in order to reduce shrink.
- Follows proper opening and closing procedures, including alarm checks
- As per policy, required to have personal parcels (bags, totes, backpacks, purses, etc.) checked by a manager prior to leaving the store premises
OPERATIONS:
- Manages and ensures execution of process excellence standards and initiatives.
- Ensures overall management of the day to day operations and maximizes productivity
- Ensures team of associates are updating dashboard within SLA to provide order visibility to retail teams & customers
- Properly use and care for all equipment in compliance with operating instructions; ensure machine and equipment maintenance is occurring in a timely fashion to maximize efficiencies.
- Overall accountability for general administration and provides ongoing support to direct reports
- Develops associate schedules to ensure that productivity is maximized and labour expenses are managed effectively
- Ownership of payroll administration and maintains employee files
- Accountable for resolving escalated internal customer service issues
- Accountable to understand general company policies and provide guidance to staff as needed
- Ensures associates check and understand all sources of communication for information (white boards, bulletin boards, portal, etc)
- Identifies and communicates suggestions for improvements in all areas of business
- Ensures the general cleanliness of workstations, lunchroom and washrooms according to company standards is maintained
- Promotes and maintains a safe working environment and follows all company protocols for safety and is required to report any unsafe working conditions to a manager

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING CONDITIONS
- Conditions of the work environment are such that minor stress and physical discomfort may occur.
- This position will be based in a production centre environment and will require extended periods of standing.
- You will be exposed to moderately disagreeable levels of noise generated by the operation of production equipment.
RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
- 5-7 years experience in the graphic communication and printing industry with a specific background in print production with clear management experience.
- Understands steps involved in the printing process
- Working knowledge of relevant platforms; preflight and industry software, file specifications and standards, desktop publishing terminology, file naming conventions.
- Knowledge of database systems and workflow management programs.
- Basic colour theory (models and space), calibration procedures, colour profiles, colour gamut of devices, and colour management devices.
- Knowledge of internal and external network environment, operating systems, file types and extensions, software and hardware components of a prepress operation, file transfer (FTP, HTTP) protocols.
Education:
- College or Technical School Diploma in Print Production preferred.
