PURPOSE OF JOB
The Project Manager is responsible for delivering projects using accepted processes and methods. This includes managing through all phases of the project lifecycle. This also includes activities such as risk management and stakeholder expectation management. This position may be responsible for managing multiple small or medium sized projects or large projects with medium-high complexity. The projects may impact multiple businesses and resources. This role will focus on Print Management information system implementation in support of the company’s important growth areas.
Major Accountabilities:
- Drive and deliver a business solution by managing all project components following the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and other methods, processes and strategies.
- Identify, communicate and/or escalate issues, risks and status to manage stakeholders’ expectations
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide strong leadership to one or more visible, complex retail technology projects, using accepted project lifecycle processes and methods.
- Manage and balance stakeholder expectations regarding the project schedule, cost, scope and identify and manage risk to these components.
- Align project requirements with the company’s business and IT technology strategy and vision.
- Build and manage a project plan that can deliver expected results.
- Collaboratively partner and lead virtual teams from disparate groups to deliver to expectations.
- Identify and manage a team of resources who come together for a specific project (IT, Business and 3rd Party) promoting our client’s values.
- Communicate status, issues, risks and changes to appropriate audience.
- Manage project financials to include compiling cost estimates into a forecast and monitor actual spend against budget.
- Provide feedback to IT Management on associate performance on a given project when requested.
- Facilitate and track adherence to Statement of Work and Legal/Contract Management.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of Project Management capability in the IT organization.
- Major contributor to Project Management or other process improvements.
RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge / Skill Requirements:
- Proven ability to collaborate broadly with flexible, positive attitude and ability to get results; team player
- Strong leadership, communication and relationship building skills
- Strong knowledge of MS Project and other Project Management applications
- Strong knowledge of MS SharePoint technology
- In depth knowledge of and ability to adapt project management practices
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and improve complex processes
- Strong financial acumen, with prior experience in creating “Level of Efforts” (LOE) and Business Cases
- Adept in influencing and negotiating (i.e. 3rd party vendors)
- Experience in Agile teams
Experience:
- 4+ years of experience in an IT organization required with demonstrated track record of delivering projects.
- Previous experience in Print MIS implementation an asset.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required; Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline and/or Master’s Degree preferred
- ITIL or ITSM certifications preferred
- PMP and/or Master’s certification in Project Management an asset
