Print Wisdom Mentors Inspire TMU GCM Students

Oct 8, 2025 | Announcement, Corporate Social Responsibility

On September 22, 23, and 26, Print Wisdom mentors visited students in the Graphic Communications Management (GCM) program at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU). These sessions brought industry professionals face-to-face with students preparing for their upcoming internships, giving them the chance to learn, connect, and build confidence as they step closer to launching their careers.

The Panel Format

The events followed an informal panel format, designed to encourage open discussion and genuine connection. Each mentor introduced themselves, spoke about their career journey, and shared stories about their own early days in the print industry—including the nerves they felt when starting out. The panels naturally flowed into a discussion of mentorship, networking, LinkedIn tips, interview strategies, and methods for navigating setbacks. Students were encouraged to ask questions, and the conversations quickly became lively, relatable, and impactful.

Student Feedback

The impact of these sessions was clear in the students’ feedback. Many expressed how much they appreciated the honesty and encouragement shared by mentors:

“Every time I had a question, they would naturally ask it in their discussion. So helpful.”

“To hear from successful women in this industry was inspiring.”

“That was so helpful. They really calmed me down.”

“I didn’t realize how real leaders in our industry can be so down to earth.”

These insights reflect the value of mentors not only as industry experts, but as role models who make the path forward feel more achievable.

We extend sincere thanks to Natalia Lumby, Donna Cormier, and Hirra Farooqi of TMU for welcoming Print Wisdom into their classrooms, and to Nicole Morrison of CFR for coordinating the visits.
