Description
Our client is a large envelope manufacturer and growing provider of packaging and specialty products.
Functional Summary
The Estimator is responsible for providing costs to the sales group primarily for envelope opportunities, with a secondary focus on packaging and label opportunities. This position partners with sales and operations to ensure timely, accurate production estimates based on customers’ specifications. Relying on creativity and moving with a sense of urgency, the Estimator is a key member of the sales support organization who provides solutions to help sales win news business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES
- Using an estimating model, ensures timely and accurate estimates by reviewing quotes specifications.
- Determines most cost effective and competitive manufacturing options by comparing pricing associated with all viable production methods.
- Calculates costs of all materials required in producing product.
- Obtains pricing from lithographers.
- Coordinates layout sheets for outside litho.
- Obtains pricing for special papers or special cartons/packaging.
- Obtains special freight rates when required.
- Applies warehousing charges to estimate.
- Suggests alternatives that may help sales win work.
- Confers with production personnel to develop or confirm information regarding various cost elements. Interacts with die cutting on special requests, such as patterns for new die with set-up times.
- Maintains and develops a list of suppliers, sources raw materials, and contacts vendors for best pricing.
- Implements all price increases of raw materials (e.g. paper, window film, cartons, skids, freight charges, etc.) into estimates.
- Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.
- Use mathematical equations to determine the quantity of material needed.
REQUIREMENTS
- 3-4 years estimating experience in printing, packaging, or paper converting manufacturing environment a requirement.
- Understanding of flexographic printing processes.
- Must have excellent organizational skills for fast paced, constantly changing environment.
- Good interpersonal skills to develop working relationships with internal staff.
- Good business communication skills; both oral & written.
- Intermediate computer skills required in MSOffice, AX Dynamics experience an asset.
- Ability to work independently, multi-task, follow-up, and meet tight timelines.
- Effective time management skills and ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
- Proven creative problem solving abilities.
- Accuracy with managing data and attention to detail.
- Able to perform business math (basic algebra, compute rate, ratio, etc.).
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic, high energy, team player, focused on the goals of the organization.
COMPENSATION
Base Salary $50,000 - $70,000
Vacation 2 weeks, or commensurate with experience
