Experiencing Print with Amos P. Kennedy Jr.

Oct 7, 2025 | Announcement, Corporate Social Responsibility

On September 27, Connecting for Results CEO Gord Griffiths had the opportunity to attend Behind the Press with Amos P. Kennedy Jr., a featured presentation at the Print Expo & Fair hosted by Howard Iron Works. It was an experience that left him both inspired and reminded of the deeper role print plays in society.

A Fresh Look at Printmaking

Amos P. Kennedy Jr. is known worldwide for his bold and thought-provoking letterpress work. His prints combine humour, colour, and powerful messages that stop you in your tracks. As Gord sat in the audience, he was struck by how Amos uses centuries-old printing techniques to address today’s challenges. His new book, The Citizen Printer, further explores this connection by celebrating the legacy of Black abolitionist printers while showcasing his own artistry.

More Than Just Ink on Paper

What stood out most was how Amos uses print to make people think. His words and images are layered with meaning, forcing us to pause and reflect. For Gord, this was a clear reminder that print isn’t only about communication—it’s about sparking conversation, challenging perspectives, and even driving social change. In a time when the print and packaging industry is focused on innovation and growth, it was refreshing to be reminded of its cultural responsibility too.

A Venue Steeped in History

The setting made the experience even more memorable. Howard Iron Works Printing Museum, with its historic presses and dedication to preserving printing’s past, was the perfect backdrop. Being surrounded by the history of the craft while hearing Amos speak about its future was a unique and meaningful combination. It reminded everyone present that while technology moves forward, the roots of print remain deeply significant.

A Takeaway for the Industry

Gord left the event energized, carrying a message he believes resonates across the industry: print is more than a business. It’s a medium with the power to inspire, challenge, and connect. At Connecting for Results, we focus on helping companies strengthen their business operations, but events like this serve as a reminder that we’re also part of a larger cultural story.
